Journey (for 6th -12th Grade)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9

Journey is a ministry that is focused on providing a safe space to build relationships, foster spiritual growth in both our youth and youth leaders alike and have fun doing it!  We meet twice a month on Sundays from 3-5pm, where we eat, drink, laugh, share highs and lows together, play, sing, study Scripture and pray together.

We at Covenant are committed to partnering with this generation in helping them connect their story with God’s story.  We do this by practicing spiritual disciplines together and meeting in small groups to talk openly about our questions and challenges we face in reading Scripture, growing closer to God, and living out our faith.

Journey is not just about being our own seperate youth group but participating as members of the larger church family.  Youth participate regularly in leading Worship on Sunday mornings through music, reading Scripture, or sharing testimonies about the ways they have grown in their faith.  We also participate in Youth Doing Good, a service day where youth auction their services to church members to raise money for our local and global mission partners.

We provide at least two retreat opportunities a year to spend time away together to grow and deepen our faith.  In the summer, we offer a trip called Rock N Water, which is a 5-day excursion to Noah’s Ark Whitewater Rafting Company and Adventure Program. And in the winter, we offer a weekend retreat to Snow Mountain Ranch. We have also participated in an Urban Plunge Weekend through Doornetwork.org, learning more about life in the city, and serving the poor and marginalized.
